ShieldTM is Dyplast Products' environmentally-friendly "green" polyisocyanurate foam insulation designed for use as wall insulation, commonly as cavity wall insulation, as well as under-slab applications. Shieldinsulated panel is made with zero-HCFC technology and is a high-value, cost-effective building solution. This foam cavity wall insulation has high R-values, acting as an energyshield to reduce energy demands while meeting or exceeding the Model Energy Codes. Polyisocyanurate insulation has excellent moisture resistant properties and greatly reduces the potential for condensation problems.
Shield is a polyiso rigid wall insulation with a triplex facer (foil-kraft-foil) on the topside and a trilaminate or solid foil facer on the unprinted back side. The foil based facers shed water to help prevent moisture accumulation in the wall cavity. The stability provided by the polyisocyanurate board core assures optimum perforance at all extremes of temperatures found in a normal structure. When the board joints are sealed with a self-adhering, flashing grade tape, the Shield envelop also acts as an air barrier.
Polyiso insulation is currently
being used in 60 percent of all new commercial construction
applications and in 30 percent of new residential buildings
due to the following advantages:
Superior energy/thermal efficiency •
Highly cost-effective •
Proven fire safety • Meets
the requirements of building codes •
Excellent water and chemical resistance •
Excellent dimensional stability •
Easy to handle, cut, and install •
Low life-cycle cost
Cavity Wall: Install thin profile Shield insulation board into the narrow cavity walls of masonry construction. Shield is easily installed as the exterior cavity wall is being constructed. The optional 16" and 24" widths fit between the masonry ties.
Foundation/Under Slab: Shield offers physical properties which make this rigid insulation ideal for foundation and under slab applications. Its resistance to moisture and decay, together with its ability to withstand loading and long-term thermal requirements, make Shield a high-value cost-effective polyisocyanurate foam insulation.
